The Year 6 students had the opportunity this week to hear from author, Robert Hoge via Skype. The students have been reading the junior reader’s edition of Robert Hoge’s book, Ugly and he took time from his current tour of America to talk with the students and answer their questions.
When Robert Hoge was born he had a tumor in the middle of his face and short, twisted legs. But he refused to let this dictate his entire life. Ugly is his account of that life, from the time of his birth to the arrival of his own daughter, and is a unique and inspiring story of a boy born with the odds against him and the family whose love and support helped him overcome incredible hardships. Robert Hoge has worked as a journalist, a speechwriter, a science communicator for the CSIRO and a political advisor to the former Queensland Premier and Deputy Premier.
