Year 4 students Jade, Miah and Eden helped lead the singing of ‘Shine Together’, the 2017 Music: Count Us In song.
On Thursday the Junior School students were involved in the national Music: Count Us In event. The event brings teachers, parents, students and the music industry together in celebration of music and music education.

The Program Song is at the heart of Music: Count Us In each year. It is a song written by students and written for students. Five students from around Australia helped write ‘Shine Together’, the 2017 Program Song, which students across the nation sang in their classrooms at the same time, as  the song was live streamed from Deakin Edge, Federation Square (Melbourne).

Music: Count Us In exists to advocate for improved access to music education for all students across Australia and to celebrate music in Australian schools. It is Australia’s biggest school initiative with more than 600,000 students from over 2,500 schools participating nationwide last year.

The BalCC Middle and Senior School students performed at the start of the Music: Count Us In event, with performances from the Allegro and Crescendo bands, and Year 8 students.

A big thank you to Music teachers, Jenny Jones and Alan Kirkman.  To Mrs Jones for teaching the Junior School students the ‘Shine Together’ song, and Mr Kirkman for leading the Senior and Middle School students in their performances during the Music: Count Us In event.

The Senior stage band, Crescendo performed several pieces with Music teacher, Alan Kirkman.
