Students from Prep-6 enjoyed a presentation by Amanda Cooper from 'Gallery for a Day'. This is a travelling exhibition of original artwork from well-known Australian picture books.

Amanda provided insights into the artists' work and developed students' curiosity and knowledge, as they were encouraged to view the picture books (and some novels) and locate the artwork linked to it.

Preliminary drawings and developmental work is displayed alongside many of the illustrations, enabling students to understand the planning and process that goes into producing picture book illustrations.

Amanda is also a 2017 Children's Book Council of Australia judge, so was also able to speak to students about the role of a judge, the criteria for book selection, and the awards process, which was a great lead-up to Book Week (19-25 August) for our students!
