The College is undergoing a transformation which will provide substantially better facilities for students and staff as part of the vision for the College’s future. With the Lord’s blessing and financial assistance from the Australian Government, there are several major projects which have been undertaken from 2006 through to the present.

New Classroom and Administration Building
Work commenced in February 2008 to construct a substantial new building to provide new facilities for students and staff. At completion, this building will provide state of the art facilities in the form of specialist science lab, art room, food technology classroom and canteen facility; administration offices and sickbay, staff room and teachers’ work area. The building is constructed with sustainability in mind, with features such as solar hot water and electricity generation; passive solar construction; capture and use of roofwater; low carbon footprint and a people friendly environment. Architect, Mr Craig Brown from McIldowie and Associates, Melbourne, has designed the building to reflect the growing and vibrant nature of the College, yet with an underlying philosophy of environmental responsibility and sustainability.
A Moving Experience!Movement and change has been the rule rather than the exception at Ballarat Christian College. With many portable buildings onsite, purchased to quickly establish a pioneering school, it then becomes a problem to know what to do with them as the College grows and bricks and mortar replace portable structures. For the College the answer was simple. With rapid growth classroom space is at a premium, so the portable classrooms are being systematically redeployed to other sections of the College precincts for refurbishment and ongoing use. This process has been helped with a grant from the Australian Government.

Improving Existing Structures and FacilitiesClassrooms and other College facilities remain the subject of ongoing improvement. The refurbishment and upgrading of classrooms and College buildings ensures that students are able to live and learn in comfortable and inspiring surroundings. Recent and substantial additions to the College facility include: • erection of a substantial shade shelter in the primary section • external painting of primary classrooms, administration building, library and toilet block by a Mobile Maintenance Mission team • redeployment and refurbishment of all portable classrooms from the secondary section over time • expansion of the primary classrooms by the addition of a portable double classroom block, enabling single streaming of primary classes
The vision for the College’s buildings and other facilities is clearly articulated in a master plan, which is updated by the Board of Directors after consultation with stakeholders.
