A VCE Excellence Assembly was held last week to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of two of our Secondary students as demonstrated by their 2018 VCE results.
VCE subjects are scored out of a possible 50 marks and a score of 40 and above is recognised as an excellent achievement. In 2018, we had one Year 12 student, Naomi and one Year 11 student, Joshua who demonstrated this level of achievement. These achievements were acknowledged at the VCE Excellence Assembly with the presentation of a gift.
Joshua, a current Year 12, achieved one of the highest scores achieved in a single subject by a student at BalCC with a study score of 48 in Biology.
While 2018 Year 12 student Naomi achieved an outstanding score of 47 in Further Mathematics, along with strong results in other subjects. Her excellent results led to her achieving an ATAR (a university entrance ranking) of 93.1. The excellent result reflecting her application to her studies. Naomi was also awarded the BalCC Dux of the College for 2018.
Joshua is studying English, Chemistry, Further Maths, Math Methods and a Certificate III in Christian Studies (having already completed Biology and Music Performance), and plans to study a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Doctorate of Medicine (BMedSci/MD) then to go on to finish a Masters in Surgery.
While Naomi will commence studying Bio Medical Engineering at RMIT this year.
Congratulations to both students on receiving the VCE Excellence Awards and for upholding the BalCC core value of excellence.
